The project, which links Mangkam County of Changdu (Qamdo) and Sangri County of Shannan (Lhoka), includes the construction and upgrade of 16 500-kilovolt substations and putting up transmission lines with a total length of 2,738 kilometers.
The average altitude of the project is 3,750 meters, with the biggest altitude gap of 494 meters between two adjacent pylons. A total of 16.2 billion yuan (approx. 2.35 billion U.S. dollars) was invested in the project.
The project currently has 400,000 kilowatts of transmission capacity. In the long run, the capacity is expected to increase to one million kilowatts, and the project will be able to transmit 2.7 billion kilowatt hours of electricity per year. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20181123...
